Why Cable TV is Inferior to Satellite TV

Before the start of satellite television in the mid 90's, the American public had two very limited options for enjoying TV. They could either watch the free-to-air programs offered by the established TV channels, or they could subscribe to one of the cable TV companies and enjoy their range of programs.
When satellite television came along in the mid-90's the choice that viewers had suddenly became much wider. Together with the multitude of improvements that came as a result of the advanced technology of satellite TV, the public were able to view a much larger range of programs. Families wanting to expand their TV options were now confronted with a choice - satellite TV or cable TV.
TV signal transmission differentiates the two types of systems and hence the ability of technical changes to be adopted. The cable system delivers the TV signal to each household via an underground cable passing each house with an offshoot being connected to the subscribers' TV. The satellite system uses a satellite dish located at or near the top of the house, with an unimpeded view of the southern sky.

2) Satellite is technically capable of providing a much larger number of channels than cable thus offering a wider range of viewing choices for all members of the family. As well as the programs from the free-to-air channels, satellite TV offers all the family favorites plus many more. All interests are included - world news; national, regional and local news and current affairs; documentaries; light entertainment; a wide range of sports events; movies; and something for children of all age groups. The technology of satellite television allows for a greater number of channels than cable - a positive factor in persuading families to subscribe to satellite.
3) Satellite TV channels are transmitted in 100% digital format for picture and sound. This gives a much more precise and cleaner picture and sound than most of the channels provided by cable.
4) When considering continuity of service and problems with loss of transmission, then satellite TV is far more reliable than cable. Indeed this is one of the major causes why families are leaving cable and switching to satellite TV. Loss of transmission problems are generally caused by poor weather conditions - a situation that doesn't affect transmission by satellite.
5) The acquisition of TV subscribers is a very competitive business - a situation of immense benefit to the public leading to all sorts of deals and free offers. All of the installers working for the satellite TV providers offer free equipment, free installation, and in many cases other free deals and offers for new subscribers.
6) Many customer surveys have been carried out comparing the level of service given by TV companies, both satellite and cable. These regular surveys clearly show that the installers of satellite TV systems regularly out-perform their cable competitors.
7) The superior technology of satellite transmission means that internet access is possible via this means, giving a more reliable and speedier connection.
8) With the ever-increasing advances in transmission technology, satellite is in a better position to take full advantage of any future changes.
For those families considering a change from cable, or else moving on from bring solely reliant on the free-to-air channels, now is the time to do it. The installers of satellite TV are still offering some great deals for new subscribers and their sales service is as good as ever.
With only two major satellite TV providers in the market the intense level of competition ensures that monthly fees and charges will always remain competitive, and that the high standard of programming will continue.
